Fish Lake Revisited, July 2009:

We stopped at one of our regular stops, Fish Lake. There is still a lot of water in it; by the end of the summer it will be dry. The fish go underground in the summer. Weird. Fish Lake is part of the Old Santiam Stage Coach Road. All of this is right off the highway. First you notice the lake, and then you can park your car and walk to where the old town used to be. The Forrest Service is restoring the area, and it is really neat. There is an original log cabin that was built in the 1920's and some other homes that can be rented out to snowshoers and cross country skiers in the winter.

We talked to the Park Ranger, who has been working hard to restore Fish Lake for the past 31 summers. Now, that is dedication. And it shows. Thank you!
